POSITIONS & DESCRIPTIONS

MentorsMen who are followers of Jesus Christ

Are you ready to share your life with a young man who lacks positive male role models?  If so, consider joining the Shoulder To Shoulder mentoring team.

Mentoring is done in a small team environment. Mentors will have a partner mentor and be assigned a team of 6 young men. The team meets Thursday at Freedom Hall where the mentors will share their life experiences covering a multitude of topics covering life skills, leadership and character principles. A primary objective is to have the young men receive wisdom from our mentors and be encouraged to apply it to their lives. Mentors will arrive for their weekly session at 2:45pm and depart around 6:00pm. A briefing will occur prior to the arrival of the young men.  The Thursday session with the young men runs for two hours followed by a half hour session de-brief to cover comments and observations. There are a few selected breaks during the year, which add up to about 10 months out of each year that mentors will meet weekly with their young men.

Team Coaches are assigned a competitive team of 6-8 young men with ages arranging from 12 to 16 with diverse ethnic backgrounds.  They will guide and encourage their teams through an assortment of activities in a fun, competitive, team based environment.  The activities include, field trips, sports & exercise, building projects, enhancing math & reading skills, camping, Creative arts, and much more! Our summer activities are designed to be real, relevant and fun!
